In a report published by the CDC, motor vehicle injuries are a leading cause of death among children in the United States, with 663 of those deaths children ages 12 years and younger who died as occupants in motor vehicles in 2015 alone. This does not account for the more than 121,350 who were injured. Of the children ages 12 years and younger who died in a car crash in 2015 (for which restraint was known) 35% were not buckled up.*
